I dont understand how people can not care about what they are putting into their bodies. when did it become uncool to be healthy & why is it the first assumption when someone chooses to be that they are radical? eating has become such a social expectation? pleasure? engagement? that people no longer eat to live, but rather eat when they arent even hungry. how has it become that we dont know & have no real control over what we consume? there was a time not so long ago when people were completely self sufficient & movements were erupting promoting & protesting for reform of the governments push toward capitalism & commercialism. these people knew exactly where their food was coming from & that is wasnt traveling for more than a hundred miles to get to them & therefore not being sprayed with chemicals to appear ripe or being injected with hormones to make them fifty percent larger, fatter, unable to function. why do we wonder why we have the highest rate of obesity when we are the laziest country in the world? now all we have to do is get in our cars & order at a drive thru. most people no longer walk to a bus stop to go to work everyday, use manual type writer or hand write instead of sitting in front of a screen, get off the couch to change the television station. all of these burn calories that we have no need to use anymore. so many times I have overheard people saying how shitty they feel after eating shitty food. but then they dont do anything about it. it is more expensive to buy a locally grown organic carrot than it is to buy a hamburger at a fast food joint. & we still dont get it. there will not be any change until the big boss companies see the demand shifting. what we buy is what we support. big companies want to provide what consumers want to purchase. by choosing one over the other we may slowly we able to make change. otherwise they see no need to alter what is working. fast, big, cheap; lather, rinse, repeat. the government is protecting their investments, finances, businesses over its citizens. would you rather spend thousands on medical bills or choose the three dollar peaches over the 99 cent taco? & they want it this way. they want us to know nothing of it or else we would all be boycotting. why else do industries like smithfield or tyson refuse to be interviewed & resist filming inside their factories? it has gotten to the point where people squirm or gasp when they see the truth about americas meat industry but think nothing while finishing that last bite on their dinner plate.
